Field service software giant Simpro Group has announced the launch of RAIN. This release represents the first major wave of new features and AI-infused enhancements built on its recently launched Lightning platform. By utilising a single, unified AI brain named Cooper, the company is now shipping product updates at roughly ten times the speed of traditional development cycles.
Crucially, the global firm is delivering dozens of new features and over 100 AI-powered enhancements. These tools will roll out progressively over the coming months across the group’s three core platforms: AroFlo, BigChange, and Simpro. Best of all, the company is providing these upgrades to existing Lightning customers at no additional cost.
Key Features Rolling Out Across the Platforms
The RAIN release introduces highly practical tools designed to solve everyday operational headaches for the trades. Marquee features include:
- Intelligent AI Scheduler (Simpro): To start with, the Cooper AI weighs staff locations, skills, certifications, and real-time availability. This smart planning cuts down drive time and ensures the right technician lands on the right job. Meanwhile, AroFlo and BigChange users benefit from real-time schedule re-optimisation when jobs cancel or urgent calls arrive.
- Native Sales Pipeline & CRM (Simpro and BigChange): Additionally, users can now track leads, manage customer contacts, and convert opportunities directly into active jobs. This integration finally unites sales and operations within a single platform.
- AI-Validated Photo Capture (BigChange): Similarly, the system automatically reviews photos on-site to confirm that field staff captured the correct evidence the first time. This automated check eliminates disputes and prevents costly follow-up visits.
- Smart Safety Forms (AroFlo): Technicians can simply snap a photo of their workspace. Following this, the AI automatically identifies on-site hazards and writes them directly into the safety form before work begins.
- Field Inventory Control (Simpro): Finally, field staff can manage full stock control straight from their mobile phones. This tool allows technicians to check materials, transfer stock between vehicles, and run stock-takes without visiting the main office.
Protecting the Bottom Line for Local Trades
Many software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers are raising their prices by up to 50% each year to cover expensive AI development costs. In contrast, Simpro Group is taking a different approach to protect customer budgets.
Fred Voccola, Chairman and CEO of Simpro Group, explained: “Lightning was never about a single launch. It was about changing how fast we can show up for the field service trades. We put a brain in the platform, and with RAIN that brain delivered a more genuinely useful product – in just a few months’ time. And here’s the part that matters as much as the technology. AI is expensive, and the market is pricing it that way… Meanwhile, our Lightning Price-Lock Guarantee caps any annual increase at no more than 3% above inflation, for the life of the agreement. The trades earn every dollar the hard way. We built Lightning to make more of those dollars stick.”
What Lies Ahead: From RAIN to THUNDER
The rapid development of RAIN is only the first step in Simpro’s broader strategy. The accelerated engine will soon power digital AI agents. These digital workers will take on vital operational roles that many small businesses cannot afford to staff internally. Furthermore, the company’s “JustAsk” data tool will evolve from answering questions into an active AI partner that helps run the business.
Looking ahead, these continuous updates will build toward the company’s next major milestone, codenamed THUNDER. Simpro Group will unveil this major update later this year at Simprosium. For the first time, this annual community event will take place in Miami alongside its traditional runs in London and Sydney.
