The projects represent the first wave of support delivered through the National Materials Innovation Programme. The National Materials Innovation Programme is delivered jointly by Innovate UK and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It will connect businesses, researchers, investors, and end-users to bridge the gap between initial discovery and widespread commercial adoption.

The 23 funded projects assess ideas across six high-growth themes identified in the National Materials Innovation Strategy.
