Accountancy group DJH expands across the Midlands and Welsh Borders with the acquisition of tech-focused firm Thorne Widgery and its XfE software platform.
Professional services group DJH has announced a major expansion of its Midlands and Welsh Borders footprint following the acquisition of technology-led accountancy firm Thorne Widgery.
The strategic deal strengthens DJH’s regional presence while adding proprietary software capabilities to its growing national portfolio.
Expanding Regional Reach and Tech Innovation
Founded over 80 years ago, Hereford-headquartered Thorne Widgery has established itself as the largest accountancy practice in Herefordshire and Shropshire, operating across additional sites in Ludlow and Shrewsbury. The firm has built an award-winning reputation for supporting owner-managed businesses through a forward-thinking, tech-first approach.
As part of the acquisition, Thorne Widgery’s specialist education accounting platform, XfE, a bespoke software solution built specifically for schools and academy trusts, will also join the DJH group.

Seamless Leadership and Expanded Client Capability
The integration will see no interruption to day-to-day client operations. Daniel Crowther, CEO of Thorne Widgery, will continue to lead the firm alongside directors Lizzie Roberts and Sam King.
Through the wider DJH group, Thorne Widgery clients will now gain direct access to a broader suite of specialist, in-house commercial services, including:

Scaling a National Footprint with Local Expertise
Backed by private equity firm Tenzing, DJH’s headcount now stands at nearly 900 people operating across 19 offices in the UK and Ireland.
