A landmark deal was completed this week at MACH 2026. Specifically, Cirencester-based Batten & Allen has become the first UK manufacturer to benefit from Bruderer UK’s latest high-speed press technology.
The £500,000 investment in the new BSTA 280-88-B3 follows a major export order from Mexico. This project involves the high-volume production of lead frames. These components are critical for the development of AI chip sets.
Precision at Scale: 1,500 Strokes Per Minute
The new machine is engineered for “micron” precision. Importantly, it allows Batten & Allen to deliver the massive volumes required by international clients. It runs at speeds of up to 1,500 strokes per minute.
Furthermore, the press features a new BSV 170 servo feeder. This was designed specifically for thin-gauge material. It also supports “lights-out” manufacturing. As a result, the firm can maintain 24/7 production to meet soaring global demand in the data centre and aerospace sectors.
Shawn Batten, Chairman of Batten & Allen, explained: “We worked closely with the Bruderer team to prove our tooling. The results were outstanding. Consequently, we decided to accelerate our purchase. MACH 2026 was the perfect opportunity to close the deal.”
A 50-Year Strategic Partnership
The relationship between these two engineering leaders dates back to 1974. At that time, Bruderer helped the fledgling business by delivering a machine on credit. Today, Batten & Allen employs 125 people. In addition, their sales have climbed to £25 million this year.
This new installation will be the 22nd Bruderer machine on their shop floor.
Adrian Haller, Managing Director of Bruderer UK, added: “This deal is a blueprint for UK manufacturing. It shows how technology allows domestic firms to lead against international rivals. We are not just selling a press. Instead, we are building a partnership to create UK jobs.”
MACH 2026: A Hub for Innovation
The deal was finalised at the Metalworking Village (Stand 6-479). Here, Bruderer is showcasing three complete production lines in real time. Despite economic challenges, the exhibition has been marked by optimism.
Batten & Allen expect the new technology to be operational within three weeks. Ultimately, this will support the Mexico contract and upcoming projects across Asia and North America.
